Jonstrålebaserad materialanalys

När joner växelverkar med fasta material kan många olika processer inträffa beroende på jonslaget och de infallande partiklarnas energi. Joner sprids, träffade atomer kan lämna materialprovet, fotoner och elektroner sänds ut, kärnreaktioner kan inträffa. Dessa processer kan användas för att analysera material.

I vår grupp utförs alla standardanalysmetoder med jonstrålar i speciella strållinjer och experimentuppställningar. Vi har konventionell Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) för icke-destruktiv djupprofilering, Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ERDA) för detektion av lätta grundämnen, Nuclear Resonance Analysis (NRA) för isotopspårning, och Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) för spårämnesanalys. Några av dessa experiment kan genomföras med en mikrometerstor stråle. De kan också användas för att utforska kanalisering i enkristallina material.
