Listen to our new professors
2022-11-14
53 new professors will be inaugurated at Uppsala University on Friday, 18 November. They will all be offering lectures that same week that are open to the public. Take the opportunity to listen to their brief yet fascinating lectures on everything from why children wet the bed to how clothes were linked with status in 18th-century Sweden.

Uppsala University has been holding professorial inaugurations since 1625, and yet another will be taking place this Friday. All new professors will then be inaugurated in their posts at a formal ceremony in the university auditorium. Our new professors will also give inaugural lectures on their research. Three lectures will be given during the ceremony itself on Friday, while the others will be given on 16 and 17 November.
These lectures will look at topics such as mental illness, why children wet the bed, clothes and social order in 18th-century Sweden and the role of emotions in court.
The inauguration ceremony and all lectures are open to the public. Tickets for the ceremony will be available in the stairwell of the University Main Building from 1pm on Friday, 18 November. No tickets are needed for the lectures during the week.
Full programme with times and dates.
Presentation of all 53 new professors.
