New World Ranking: Uppsala University Best in the Nordics in Physics

Uppsala University ends up in place 47 in the world within the subject area physics in the 2022 Shanghai ranking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Uppsala University is with its placement the best in the Nordics within the physics area.
Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, GRAS, was presented on July 19, 2022 and ranks the best universities within 54 subject areas. Totally, more than 5 000 universities were ranked in the world.
The method used in the ranking is transparent, with data from third parties and the indicators the subject ranking is based on are:
- QI – The number of papers published in Q1 Journal Impact Factor Quartile in an Academic Subject
- CNCI – Category Normalized Citation Impact from InCites to measure average impact of papers authored by an institution in an Academic Subject
- IC – The percentage of internationally co-authored papers authored by an institution in an Academic Subject
- Top – The number of papers published in top journals and conferences in an Academic Subject
- Award – The total number of the staff of an institution winning a significant award in an Academic Subject
On August 15, 2022, the Shanghai ranking The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) which ranks the best universities in the world was also published. There Uppsala University is ranked as number 89 and the second best Swedish university.
The Shanghai ranking is presented by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which is an independent village organisation that has published the subject ranking since 2009.
